AZAGC is Arizona’s oldest and most influential not-for-profit association of general contractors, subcontractors, and other construction industry affiliated firms engaged in highway, heavy, industrial and municipal-utility construction.

AZAGC originates and coordinates support for bills favorable to the industry, while also opposing unfavorable legislation. We need to maintain our roads to protect our families and the people we care about. Safe and well-maintained roads prevent collisions and ensure that our loved ones can safely get to school, work, church, or other places. They also let us spend less time stuck in traffic and more time with our family.
The testimony from rural representatives laid bare the dismal state of local roads and the immense toll that deferred maintenance has on rural Arizona’s ability to compete for new jobs and economic development opportunities – furthering the urban rural divide that plagues much of the America today and American politics in general.
The elected officials will share details regarding local and regional transportation needs including issues such as funding, conditions, and maintenance.
The testimony from rural representatives revealed a troubling picture – local roads in desperate need of repair and lack of funding to address their maintenance needs.
In discussing funding for Arizona’s highways, streets and road maintenance, Kristine Ward, Chief Financial Officer of the Arizona Department of Transportation, confirmed, “We have greater needs than we have revenues to meet those needs.â€
